Welcome to my personal website! I wanted to carve out my personal space online to aggregate my digital footprint and create a place for my online conversation. I am a Massachusetts native, Eagle Scout, chemical engineer, UMass Amherst alumni, and now software product manager.
You might read that short narrative and scratch your head. It’s not the most obvious career path but I love it so far. The most common theme in my career has been solving interesting and hard problems.
When I was a junior in high school I remember searching “what is the hardest college major?” The generally agreed upon answer was Chemical Engineering and I thought “Hey! I’m good at math and chemistry.. I bet I can do this!” And then I did it.
After college I joined some brilliant people at IBM in Fishkill, NY pushing semi-conductor manufacturing technology into unknown and exciting territory. I was the co-owner of the STI CMP (Shallow-Trench-Isolation Chemical Mechanical-Planarization) process where the tolerances were so strict that no point on the 300mm wafer could be higher or lower than any other point by 300 angstroms. To put that into perspective, imagine a disc with the diameter of a football field. Leaving my process all points on the disc would be within 0.0000036 inches of each other. Seriously wild stuff!
Now, I work at a product cost management software company as a Product Manager. My job is to define and build products that will delight our customers. Figuring out the market problems facing our industry and developing creative solutions is just as challenging (if not more challenging) than engineering new processes. And I’m looking forward to my next big challenge, whatever that might be.
