This year I finally made it back to the Brimfield antique show! I have many childhood memories of running around the fields hoping to discover the next great treasure. This is the first year I can attend after having a job for awhile, having enough money to buy my own treasures, and a home to put my treasures in! And it was a beautiful May day.
The day started very very cold! My tent had frost on it but it quickly turned into a beautiful sunny day. On my shopping list were:
- An iron patio set
- Two industrial bar stools
- Bedside stands
- Mid-century modern chairs
From my list I only ended up with the patio set but I did gather a lot of great market data about what is desirable and the value certain styles and brands command (I am stuck in product management mode all the time now).
I did find an unexpected treasure though! I found an old redwood slab that will soon become a centerpiece of my living room once I craft some legs for it and make it a coffee table. Stay tuned for how this project progresses.
Overall it was a great day, I learned a lot about what kind of mid-century modern furniture is out there (and how much more money I need to save to have it), and found a couple of great finds. I am walking away from May Brimfield 2016 with a new redwood slab for a future project, an iron patio set, and my first sunburn of the year. Looking forward to next year!
